The year 2017 was truly a Mighty one for us! We collected all the highlights from this year in this one post. Are you ready? Let’s recap!
1. Elo gifted Mightifier to 100 classes
The year 2017 started wonderfully when in January we announced our collaboration with the Finnish pension fund Elo. They wanted to celebrate Finland’s 100 years of independence by gifting Mightifier to 100 classes in order to improve their class atmosphere and decrease bullying. What a thoughtful gift!
2. KYKY co-creation with the City of Espoo
As the spring progressed we worked hard on co-creating the Mightifier-app together with the City of Espoo. This co-creation process focused on developing Mightifier’s Well-being Pulse, which is a real-time tool for the teachers to follow the well-being of their class. It was a wonderful to be able to co-create our product with the awesome Finnish teachers and students and innovative people from Espoo.
3. Winning Arctic15-pitching competition
In May Mightifier was named the winner of the Arctic15 Microsoft Pitching Competition 2017 for startups. Competing against 500 Nordic and Baltic startups Mightifier took home the Grand Prize of 50 000 euros.
Earlier in the spring Mightifier had also won a Grand Prix, best in show award in a prestigious Finnish design competition Vuoden Huiput 2016. Mightifier was also named the winner of Best in Design and honored in Most Innovative Digital Service category in the annual 2017 Grand One Awards. The app placed in the top 5 in the 2017 Webby Awards too.
4. Licensing agreement with Scholastic
After summer holidays we were honored to announce that Mightifier-app has been licensed to Scholastic, the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books and a global leader in educational programs and services for use in schools and homes. With this agreement Scholastic will make Mightifier available to the company’s vast network of schools throughout Asia.
5. Representing Finland in pitching competitions
In the fall we were grateful to represent Finland in several competitions. Mightifier headed to Copenhagen to Creative Business Cup Finals after winning the Finnish semi-finals. Mightifier was the Finnish representative also in Ideas from Europe semi-finals in Tallinn and guaranteed a place in the finals next year – how amazing!
Among those Mightifier represented Finland in Nordic EdTech Awards in Slush17 side event XcitED. Earlier in the fall Mightifier won a second prize in the SULA pitching competition.
6. Mightifying Finland
December started on a festive note because Mightifier’s home country, Finland, celebrated 100 years on independence on December 6th. To take part in the celebrations we encouraged people all around the world to give positive feedback to Finland. When the answers were in, it was clear – majority of people thought that persistence is the Super Strength of Finland. Fairness and honesty made it to the Top 3 too.
7. Improving well-being and enthusiasm
The brightest highlight was definitely the moment we tallied some well-being results of the classes who have actively used Mightifier this year. We saw a lot of increased well-being, more school enthusiasm and less bullying. We can’t imagine a better way to end this year, since our goal is to make sure all children know they matter – just the way they are!
It has been an amazing year and we can’t wait to start a new one! Our New Year’s resolution is to keep doing our best to make sure all children in the world know they are valued. We promise we’ll keep it!
