Mightifier and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals provided by the United Nations is a framework of goals to be achieved by 2030. The aim of these goals is to make the world a better and more sustainable place for all of us in the future. Amazing, right? But did you know which of the goals are especially promoted by Mightifier?

Quality education

Education can be seen as a core foundation to reach other sustainable development goals. Education is crucial as it has been proved that educated people are more likely to get jobs and more likely to stay healthy and therefore also live longer lives. Quality education means that everyone has the right and the possibility for early-age, primary and secondary education. This should be the situation regardless of a family’s financial situation, skin colour or gender. However, this is not the case everywhere at the moment.

We strongly believe that the school environment should be accessible and safe for everyone. We want to be there to improve the quality of education around the world. Education is not all about learning to read and write but it is also about learning social and emotional skills, human development.

These are essential to be able to manage a healthy identity, manage emotions and achieve goals, feel and show empathy, develop lasting relationships and make responsible decisions, as CASEL definition of SEL states. Hence, they are also critical future work-life skills. Quality education gives students the courage to believe in themselves and their opportunities.

Good Health and Wellbeing

UN goals on good health and wellbeing focus especially on physical health such as nutrition and freshwater for everyone. Mightifier’s approach to good health and wellbeing is more on the mental and social aspects of health. Our goals are creating psychologically safe learning environments and reducing bullying in schools. Mightifier Wellbeing Pulse is a tool made particularly to make tracking of student wellbeing easier and therefore making it easier to tackle upcoming problems with data-driven decisions.

One big challenge for students’ health and wellbeing is bullying. Bullying can leave lifelong traumas and harm students’ self-esteem and mental wellbeing. Being left out and feeling alone in the classroom can also trigger mental health problems like depression.

That is why one of the main ideas behind Mightifier is that everyone needs to be appreciated as they are and everyone deserves to be treated fairly. To ensure this, the Wellbeing pulse and Sociogram are designed to help the teachers to track bullying and friendship situations in their class. With the help of our pedagogical materials, teachers can find the tools to start tackling the problems.

Reduced Inequalities

Reducing inequalities to make the world a more fair place and aiming to give the same opportunities for everyone is a big challenge. Mightifiers core idea is that everyone should be valued as they are. Our program has been used around the world already in over 30 countries. All of these countries have different kinds of school systems and therefore also different challenges when it comes to inequality.

Being equal in a classroom does not mean that everyone is doing the same but rather it means that everyone’s different needs are met. We think that everyone deserves positive feedback and encouragement to believe in one’s own capabilities to develop. By raising children who believe in themselves and in their possibilities in life, we will also raise children who are willing to fight for equal opportunities and possibilities in the future.
